The Old Toffee Shop dates back to 1881 & was purchased by the Chapman family for £150.00 & was originally registered as a “dwelling house, midden head & premises” for business use.

The cottage has been used in the first instance as a butchers (see hook in kitchen ceiling) & then as a small general store & sweet shop owned by Mr & Mrs Walton (see photo attached) The shop was known for many years by the local school children as ‘Emma’s’ as she sold sweets & ice creams & I believe they named it the The Old Toffee Shop.
